Las Dalias Hippie Market, the real Ibiza

Las Dalias Hippie Market, the real Ibiza

Discovering markets is one of our great passions, and if they’re in Ibiza, even better.

In the 60s, the paradisiacal beauty of Ibiza attracted a large community of hippies and artists from around the world, who found the island to be the perfect place to create and express their art. Gradually, these artists began to meet to exchange and sell their work, thus the markets were born in Ibiza.

However, one market stands out for its unique and special style. A market that represents the essence of Ibiza and is a mandatory visit for all those who want to experience some of the island’s authentic spirit. The original Las Dalias Hippie Market is held every Saturday for those wanting to visit in summer time.

For us, the market is a time machine that transports you to the 60s. Soak up the smell of incense, observe the artisans’ “looks”, enjoy the Mediterranean creations and drink natural juice while listening to DJs playing at ten in the morning.

In the market you can find really curious things from very original clothes, Mediterranean crafts, necklaces and earrings of all shapes and colours. Records that you wouldn’t find in other places, unique decorative items, handmade shoes, as well as a lot of products made in Ibiza or brought from faraway places like India or Bali. We almost went crazy with the amount of things for sale. So, we recommend you take it calmly and spend all morning to visit it.

And for the Foodie Hippies options are also endless. From a Food Truck to a concert to a restaurant with fusion cuisine from around the world. A tapas bar, several beverage bars, a natural and slush juice bar, another with homemade pizzas, a beautiful Berber jaima where you can taste teas and sweetmeats and the Soul Bar, where the DJs from the market play.

In addition, they organise other activities such as the night market, the Christmas market, the Easter market and Las Dalias On the Road.

Las Dalias has also received several awards. The most recent was the one granted by Diario de Ibiza for its long history in Business Initiative, its ability to maintain its roots and at the same time to adapt to new times, as well as its important contribution to the island’s cultural offer. The City Council of Santa Eulària des Riu recognized Las Dalias as a Place of Tourist Interest and the Balearic Government granted them the 2016 Tourism Award.

For us Las Dalias is much more than a market, it’s the real Ibiza. A place trapped in time that should never lose that essence that makes it unique and special.
